The Dyer’s Tao:
A Seasonal Guide To Organic Color

The author began researching, gathering, and conducting natural dye techniques while they were working on their masters thesis over 40 years ago. I was approached to take the documentation, copy, and pen & ink drawings out of hibernation, and shape everything into a comprehensive book form.

The results are a book jam-packed with practical and useful natural dyeing information, offering knowledge to advanced and novice dyers about extracting more than 550 colors from more than 80 plants with easy to follow recipes. The book begins with a history of dyeing, before moving on to methods, fiber types, dyestuffs, and a recipes section. The recipes are organized by the colors of the four seasons, making it easy to locate the colors you want to achieve for repeatable results.

Illustrations, photos, quotes, icons, and other graphics are strategically placed throughout the book to create interesting compositions and keep the reader engaged.
